Active Compliance Force Device

The PushCorp AFD1100 Series Force Device is a more powerful and rugged tool then the AFD1000. This unit was developed in response to customer's needs for increased force capacity and carriage stroke.

The AFD1100 Series is available in two configurations: AFD1100-1 Vertical and the AFD1100-2 Horizontal. The units are functionally identical, but differ in the orientation with which they attach to the robot, either vertically or horizontally. This allows you to optimize robot reach and dexterity for your particular application.

The AFD1100 Series coupled with the FCU1000 Controller us patented force control technology to provide incredibly accurate performance. This superior performance benefits you by immediately providing greater processing throughput with more consistent, higher quality results.

Here are just a few operations the AFD1100 Series, matched with the proper process equipment, can accomplish faster, more accurately, and with greater control than ever before:

The AFD1100 Series "Big Tex" is a brute capable of applying high forces and carrying large tooling payloads. This large capacity coupled with high horsepower servo motors and special tooling can achieve material removal rates comparable to some machine tools. In addition to applying high forces, the AFD1100 has a long 1.6 inch (40mm) carriage linear stroke.

PushCorp, Inc. pioneered the development of active force control and holds a U.S. Patent on the technology. The AFD1000/AFD1100 Active Force Devices and FCU1000 Active Compliance Controller are a direct result of this research. The FCU1000 Controller executes proprietary algorithms, continuously monitoring the force applied by the AFD1100 and immediately correcting any detected force variations. This advanced technology allows the AFD1100 Series to apply very accurate forces over their entire operational range.

Active closed-loop control provides many additional features not available in the less sophisticated passive systems.

The AFD1100 Series have the built-in ability to precisely weigh the payload and compensate for gravity induced forces in any orientation. For example, if 60.4 lbs. [268.7 N] of force is required; the AFD1100 Series will apply this force in any orientation - horizontal, vertical, even inverted.

The AFD1100 Series system is easily integrated into your workcell, since it is stand-alone and not robot dependent. Installation involves mounting the FCU1000 Controller, mounting the AFD1100, connecting one small flexible air supply line, and attaching the controller cable. The simple Microsoft Windows™ software setup means that you can be up and running your process in a matter of minutes.
