Backstand Equipment Overview

PushCorp belt and wheel backstands integrate our force controlled linear compliance and servomotor technology into floor-mounted equipment that provide a turn-key solution to part-in-hand robotic processes. These products allow a robot, with simple gripper end-of-arm tooling, to pick up a part and manipulate it over an abrasive belt, wheel, or brush just as a person would. Built in compliance maintains an accurate and consistent contact force on the part. Servomotor techology maintains accurate and consistent media speed under varying load conditions with high efficiency and zero maintenance.

All of these features can be accessed via automatic or manual controls that can be installed in minutes. Bolt the equipment to the floor, connect compressed air and electric power and you are ready to get started producing beautiful, consistent parts!

SBS81 Servo Belt Backstand

The SBS81 Servo Belt Backstand provides a solution for automating belt sanding operations. It has dual shafts that allows multi-step sanding operations with different abrasive belt grits or even combining a belt operation on one side and an abrasive wheel on the other. The SBS81 has the built-in ability to remotely adjust the force applied to the part, belt speed, and belt tracking during part processing safely from outside the robot workcell.

The SBS81 is compatible with industry standard 132 inch belts up to 4 inches wide. It utilizes adjustable air pressure to tension the belts and has integral sensor outputs to detect belt breakage. A position sensor output from the force compliant carriage can be used to sense part position or wheel wear.

The SBS81 Servo Belt Backstand provides a solution for automating wheel sanding operations. Like the SBS81 it has dual shafts that allows multi-step sanding operations with different abrasive grits but it omits the unnecessary belt tracking mechanism thus reducing its cost. The SFS81 also has the built-in ability to remotely adjust the force applied to the part, belt speed from outside the robot workcell.

The SBS81 is delivered with bare shafts that can be used with a wide variety of sanding, grinding, or polishing wheel media. A position sensor output from the force compliant carriage can be used to sense part position or wheel wear.
