All configurations of the Weld Shaver share the same design features, differentiated only by the cutting width. A high-torque servo motor drives a series of slotting cutters through a belt reduction. The slotting cutters utilize standard carbide inserts. Utilizing a servo motor allows the cutting speed to be accurately set and monitored and the cutting effort to be monitored.
The Control Console allows the user to completely control and monitor the weld-removal process from a safe distance. The Control Console has displays for cutter speed, cutter effort, carriage speed (feed rate), carriage effort, applied pressure, and retract pressure. It has controls for enabling the Drive Carriage and the Weld Shaver, as well as setting the cutter speed, carriage speed, and orientation.
The Control Umbilical connects the Control Console to the Drive Carriage. All of the electrical power cables, control signal cables, and pneumatic air supply lines to the Drive Carriage are protected inside the Control Umbilical’s fire-retardant, crush-resistant outer tube.
The TWS91 System offers vastly reduced production times while improving quality and safety over manual grinding.
